O’Hagan Meyer’s Alan Albert has won a $7.3 million verdict from a Fairfax, Virginia jury in a precedent-setting case to recover assets fraudulently diverted from a bank in Kazakhstan.

Today the Illinois Supreme Court issued the much-anticipated Rosenbach ruling regarding the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (“BIPA”/ “Act”) reversing the trial Court’s dismissal of the complaint for failing to state an injury under the BIPA.

On October 1, 2018, a new non-compete law went into effect in Massachusetts that concerns a business’s employees and independent contractors. For any non-competition agreement entered into on or after that date, certain statutory conditions must be met for a court to find the agreement enforceable. Franchisors and franchisees alike must be vigilant to examine their non-competition restrictions in light of the new law.
