Mr. Sweeney’s practice focuses on employment litigation, and he represents employers in a wide variety of employment litigation matters, including defense of wrongful discharge claims; retaliation and whistle blower claims; workplace discrimination and harassment claims; and other matters under both the California Government Code and Title VII.
In addition to representing clients in employment matters, Mr. Sweeney’s practice includes representing clients against claims under the California Labor Code, including individual wage and hour matters; wage and hour class actions; and the Private Attorney General Act (“PAGA”). He has also represented numerous clients before both the Department of Labor Standards and Enforcement and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Prior to joining O’Hagan Meyer, Mr. Sweeney was the founding partner of a small firm, where he represented employees in labor and employment matters, in both the public and private sector. Earlier in his career, Mr. Sweeney was an associate at two nationally recognized law firms in California.
Mr. Sweeney has been selected as a Rising Stars from 2018 to 2023 in Employment Litigation. He is admitted to practice before all State and Federal Courts in California.
In 2008, Mr. Sweeney received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Cal State University of Northridge and received his J.D. from Southwestern Law School in 2011.
