Tim is senior counsel in the Chicago office of O’Hagan Meyer.  Tim’s practice focuses on data breach, privacy and cyber liability, as well as biometric privacy matters.  He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals. In Tim’s practice, he advises business of all sizes in regards to developing Incident Response Plans, provides “tabletop” exercises to help clients prevent and prepare for data security and data compromise events. Further, Tim acts as breach counsel for companies who are responding to active computer system intrusion, ransomware and business e-mail compromise events. Tim also regularly advises companies on regulatory and compliance matters after they have suffered a data security event and represents companies in responding to governmental regulatory investigations after a data breach. Tim also manages a 24-hour hotline on behalf of various cyber risk insurers and provides triage legal advice to insureds under these programs and assembles the appropriate incident response team. Tim has represented insurance carriers and their insureds in multi-million dollar ransomware and extortion negotiations. Finally, Tim has extensive experience regarding wire fraud and fraudulent funds transfers and assists insurance companies and their insureds in efforts to recover stolen funds.

Prior to joining O’Hagan Meyer, Tim spent more than ten years representing product, premises and contractor defendants in asbestos litigation in jurisdictions throughout Illinois and Missouri.
