Matthew specializes in labor and employment matters on behalf of employers, including defending wage and hour class actions and PAGA matters, wrongful termination claims, and claims for discrimination, retaliation, and sexual harassment. He represents employers in state and federal court, arbitration, and mediation, and has experience handling matters from pre-litigation assessment through resolution. He also advises employers on compliance with California and federal employment laws, including policy development, wage-and-hour compliance, and employee discipline and termination decisions.
Before joining O’Hagan, Matthew served as in-house counsel for a large automotive dealership group, where he gained experience in products liability and commercial business litigation. His experience includes drafting dispositive motions and appellate writ petitions regarding negligent manufacture claims and propounding and responding to discovery requests.
Matthew earned his J.D. from Southwestern Law School, where he was a Dean’s Merit Scholar and a member of the Southwestern Law Review. He received his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of California, San Diego.
