    Matthew LaGarde is an associate in O’Hagan Meyer’s Richmond, Virginia office. His practice focuses on complex civil litigation in state and federal courts.  He has represented numerous clients in claims involving alleged violations of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Dodd-Frank Act, the False Claims Act, Title VII, and other whistleblower, anti-retaliation, and anti-discrimination laws in federal court and before state and federal agencies.

    Mr. LaGarde graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maryland School of Law, which he attended from 2012 to 2016 while continuing to work full-time at a Washington, D.C. law firm.  Mr. LaGarde also received the Larry B. Shoda award, given annually to an evening student who has achieved scholastic excellence, and was a member of the editorial board of the Maryland Law Review.

    Following law school, Mr. LaGarde spent four years practicing in Philadelphia at a nationally prominent employment and whistleblower law firm.  Mr. LaGarde then spent two years as a term judicial clerk for Judge George L. Russell, III, at the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.

    Mr. LaGarde graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park in 2005.  Before deciding to attend law school, Mr. LaGarde spent several years as a professional poker player, during which time he competed at the highest levels of tournament poker, including regular appearances at the World Series of Poker.
