    Demian Betz is an experienced corporate lawyer, litigator, negotiator, trial attorney, and pro bono leader.  Demian focuses his practice on commercial and securities litigation, regulatory and enforcement proceedings, labor and employment litigation, and professional liability and insurance coverage.

    Before joining O’Hagan Meyer, Demian served in the legal departments at Wachovia and Wells Fargo Bank between 2004 and 2021.  During this time, Demian managed law firms throughout the United States in a variety of litigation and arbitration proceedings.  Demian also handled his own portfolio of securities arbitration matters as a first-chair in-house trial counsel, ultimately trying 45 cases to conclusion at FINRA arbitration hearings in locations throughout the United States including, Miami, New York City, Richmond, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Dallas, and Los Angeles, among other locations.  In 2020, Demian also tried to conclusion a sales practice arbitration through one of the first virtual FINRA Zoom hearings completed during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

    Demian has many years of experience as a corporate risk manager directly responsible for accurately and reliably assessing complex legal, regulatory, operational,, and reputational risks and explaining those risks for senior level financial services and investment management executives.  Combining his experience managing law firms and litigation teams with his extensive first-chair trial experience, Demian understands how to design and to execute case management, litigation, settlement, and trial strategies that deliver optimal results to clients.

    Demian currently serves as Chair of the Legal Aid of North Carolina Charlotte Local Advisory Council. He has also served as Chair of the Wells Fargo Legal Department’s Enterprise-Wide Pro Bono Steering Committee (2018 – 2020) and Local Coordinator for the Wells Fargo Charlotte Legal Department’s Pro Bono Program (2014 – 2017).  He routinely handles child custody cases and trials in Mecklenburg County Court on behalf of Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy’s migrant family clients and its Special Immigrant Juvenile Status program.
