  • Professional Overview
    Jamey is a Partner in the Chicago Office of O’Hagan Meyer and a Chair of the Firm’s Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice. In that capacity, Jamey acts as data breach counsel to companies, both large and small, in preventing and responding to data security incidents, network intrusions, data theft events, fraudulent funds transfer and theft, ransomware attacks and inadvertent disclosure of data. Further, Jamey represents companies in class action lawsuits in state and federal courts around the country in data breach, data privacy and data tracking litigation. Jamey also regularly represents companies in lawsuits involving cyber theft of funds in fraudulent wire and ACH transfer schemes and works with the government and private sources to track and recover stolen funds.

    Jamey also acts as Incident Response Coordination and Monitoring Counsel for domestic and London-based Cyber Risk and Cyber Liability Insurers. In that capacity, he and his team, act as counsel for the Insurer and “quarterback” the incident response including operating a 24/7 Incident Hotline as the fist point of contact for an Insured under the program. Depending on the incident Jamey and his team assemble the response team including breach counsel, forensic IT specialist, public relations firms and notification and credit monitoring services. Jamey also acts as national oversight counsel in regards to cybersecurity and data privacy loss trends and emerging issues in data privacy class action lawsuits. Jamey also works to recover stolen funds on behalf of the Cyber Insurer and its Insured and has negotiated numerous ransom and extortion payments when that is the only option to restore a client’s computer system or prevent public disclosure or sale of stolen data.

    Finally, Jamey has extensive experience representing lawyers, health care providers and all other types of professionals in professional negligence litigation and representing Directors & Officers in fiduciary breach and corporate governance matters.

    Education

    Jamey received his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2003, where he graduated cum laude.  While at Loyola, he was a Senior Member of Loyola’s Law Review, Loyola Law Journal, served as a legal writing tutor and was a National Champion at the Wagner Labor and Capital Employment Law Moot Court competition, besting over 30 other schools.

    Jamey received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Ball State University in 2000, where he graduated cum laude and was elected Student Government President.
