    Quinn Adams is a Partner in O’Hagan Meyer’s Richmond, Virginia office. He has experience in general and commercial litigation in both state and federal courts.  Mr. Adams’ practice focuses on complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts.  His representative matters include prosecuting and defending claims alleging breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, business torts, fraud, violations of state and federal consumer protection and securities laws, trademark and trade dress infringement, and unfair competition.

    Mr. Adams graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 2012, where he served as the president of the Honor Court.  He graduated magna cum laude from the Washington and Lee University School of Law in 2016, where he served as the Chair of the Moot Court Board.  During law school, he interned for The Honorable William P. Johnson (U.S. District Court Judge for the District of New Mexico) and The Honorable John A. Gibney, Jr. (U.S. District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia).

    Representative Matters:

    • Assisted in a multi-year representation of a company against claims brought by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau seeking millions of dollars in damages. After years of discovery, depositions, and motions practice, obtained a favorable settlement of the CFPB’s claims.
    • Assisted in prosecuting a multi-million dollar claim on behalf of a large utility company against a defendant which sought to pierce the defendant’s corporate veil and asserted claims for breach of fiduciary duty to a creditor. The defendant agreed to a favorable settlement on the eve of trial.
    • Defended a small construction contractor against claims for breach of fiduciary duty and business conspiracy brought by a large contractor seeking millions of dollars in damages. Successfully argued a motion in limine to exclude the plaintiff’s damages evidence, leading the plaintiff to take a non-suit.
    • Obtained the dismissal, for lack of personal jurisdiction, of claims brought against a real estate company
    • Obtained the dismissal, for failure to state a claim, of a multi-million dollar claim against a moving company for alleged violations of the False Claims Act.
    • Obtained the dismissal, for failure to state a claim, of a claim brought under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    • Obtained the dismissal, for failure to state a claim, of claims for breach of fiduciary duty and statutory conspiracy against a financial advisor. (the conspiracy claim was later dismissed by a separate order).
    • Drafted an appellate brief to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit asking the Court to affirm the dismissal a former employee’s claim under federal anti-discrimination laws. The Second Circuit affirmed the decision on the papers.

    Education

    Quinn earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Washington and Lee University School of Law where he served as the chair of the Moot Court Board and a lead articles editor on the Journal for Civil Rights and Social Justice.  He also interned for federal judges in the District of New Mexico and the Eastern District of Virginia while in law school.  He earned his B.A. in international studies and political science from the Virginia Military Institute.
